scout

Dear Diary,
I'm so excited for today is my wedding day! All these summers with Dill finally paid off and now we are gonna be man and wife. He proposed to me under the big tree near the Radley place, it was so sweet. Best part is that Atticus and Jem both appove and so does everyone else. Miss Maudie was super nice with helping me plan everything, and but Aunt Alexandra was a pain. That women always is trying to get her way. She was gonna try to make me wear a huge dress with tassels and all, but i put my foot down. Ima plain and simple girl, i dont need a weddin made for a princess. Atticus sure is treating me like one though, guess he's sad that ima be leaving him soon. Jem did a couple years ago and that broke his heart as well. But ima be staying close. Maycomb is my home, and i wouldnt think to leave it. Expecailly now that I'm the becomming a new laywer round here. My daddy teaching me everything he knows. Ive also become a fine lady, but i do prefer my overalls every now and again. Well, I'll write back after the i do's.

Ma girl finally did what she susposed to. She aint gona be goin round with them negros anymore if she know whats good for her. No daughter of mine is gonna be kissin wit someone like that. Glad i taught her a lesson. My house my rules, and if she aint like that she can get out. And she betta not tell them lawyers what really happened. if i go to jail for what i did, she be hoping i never get out. Id beat her harder than i did the first time. And if them laywers try to make me feel stupid again, they betta know whats comm'n fo them. I aint gonna be made a fool of infront of the town 'gain. Specially that Finch, he think he better then e'vry one round here when he aint. We all make our liv'ns.

Creative

That Calpurnia! That stupid cook burned me and got me in trouble. I was just sitting there waiting for my breakfeast, and she spills hot grits all down my chest! Never have i felt such pain, and all because she is clumsy. My father should have fired her for that. I now have burns all down my stomach that i have to lotion every couple of hours. Yet, im the one who got yelled at! Atticus really took it out on me too much, I didnt mean to call her the n- word, it just slipped out. I was just so mad. I know its bad and all, and i did apolize, but i shouldnt be punished further. People use that word round here all the time. I say it once and i get a lickin. Scout runs her mouth everyday, and get nuttin. Oh well, i learned my lesson. Cal apolized too, she didnt really mean to spill the grits on me. And she still mad for what i called her. From now on ill watch what i say. Atticus says times will be gettin harder each day round here, and if i fill my head with that nonsense, then we no better then the rest.

Chapter 9-10

Dear diary,
Today i have found out a lot about Atticus that i haven't known. Miss. Maudie told me that he used to be known for shoot'n. I wonder why he never told this before? I'm also wonderin what else is going on wit this new case of his. I keep having to tell Scout to calm down and let him do his business and dont mind anyone, but she doesnt like to listen. I've learned that Atticus does what he does for a reason so i decided not to push him on it. I am worried about Scout though. She lets people get to her head too much. She gotta learn to just ignore them folks and stop fight'n em everytime they say something to her. Hopefully she'll learn before Atticus finds out and gives her a whoppin.

Dear Diary,

Today my good for nothing sister actaully disocoverd something that’s pretty intresting. Normally she’s too busy being a girl but when I was walking with her we discovered a box of some old coins. It was in this old tree hole infront of the Radley house. She’s too dumb to know anything, but I knew that these coins were worth something. They had old Indian heads on them and they’ve ovbviosuly been saved. I wonder who would put them there? I doubt they’re some kids.
A couple days ago when me and my sister were haning with Dill, I touched the Radley house. I mean, I can never back down from a dare. I tried not to be scared, but inside I was shaking like a rattlesnake. I aint no big bad man, if Boo came out id be dead meat. All them stories I hear scare the day lights outa me. One-day I’d really like to see him though. I bet his face is all demented and pale. I’d try to get him to eat my sister. It’s really annoying how Atticus won’t let us play anymore. But what he don’t know don’t hurt him. We decidin to play anyway, nuttin else to do. And one of these days we gunna come up with a secret plan to really make Boo come outside. Nodody gunna know bout it except us three. Then when Boo finally comes out everyone will call us heros. Man I’d sure like that.
